Illegal migrant workers by the thousands will tell us how they got into the U.S. the eazier way. But like anything else in this capitalist economy, all is possible at the right price. Many Mexican workers paid top dollar to enter, and now work in substandard contitions for low wages, rendering it almost impossible to reimburse the creditor who opened the door at the border. Tighter rules and laws? More policing? Meanwhile, the cost to the American taxpayer continues to increase, but illegal or immoral private interests also rize. Perhaps the allure and glow of the American Dream are too strong. They want to work and escape hardship in Mexico. However in the long run, too often the new hardship north of the border is worse.
